Hello family, friends, music lovers, and supporters of the performing arts!
My name is Emma and I am the principal harpist of the San Diego Civic Youth Orchestra. I have been a member for two years and have been playing the harp since I was 5 years old. My favorite orchestra music to play is Capriccio Espagnol (Rimsky-Korsakov), Waltz of the Flowers from “The Nutcracker Suite” (Tchaikovsky), and Neptune from “The Planets Suite” (Holst). This June we have the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City!
We have kickstarted a fundraising campaign to help send our orchestra on this amazing trip to play with some of the best youth orchestras in the nation. We are honored to have been selected but we need your help to get us there!
This opportunity will be life-changing. Since it opened in 1891, Carnegie Hall has set the international standard for musical excellence as the aspirational destination for the world’s finest artists. From Tchaikovsky, Dvořák, Mahler, and Bartók to George Gershwin, Billie Holiday, Benny Goodman, Judy Garland, and The Beatles, an honor roll of music-making artists representing the finest of every genre has filled Carnegie Hall throughout the years.
Won't you help me get the Civic Youth Orchestra to Carnegie Hall? Thank you from all the members of the San Diego Civic Youth Orchestra!
