Hello Fabulous Friends,
We are reaching out to you to help us support our favorite non-profit organization, Northshore Senior Center! Ok, so it is also our employer, however, we feel especially lucky to work for an organization that we truly believe in. NSC is the largest senior center in the Pacific Northwest and one of the largest in the country. We serve over 7.000 people in a year; not just seniors, but people of all ages with disabilities, caregivers, and families. We see on a daily basis the positive effects of our organization for the people that we serve and can’t help think how useful a place like ours could have been for our grandparents and family. The Adult Day Care would have been so helpful for our grandfather who had dementia. Our transportation department could have helped our grandparents that were no longer able to drive and would have helped get our grandmother to her dialysis appointments when family were not available. We especially wish that our Grandpa could have attended our Rock Steady Boxing which is proven to help people with Parkinsons. We could go on and on; meals, food pantry, fitness Center, numerous support groups, resources and classes from our Social Services / Wellness Department. Although some of these programs are pay for service, the majority of them are offered for a suggested donation or even free which brings us to the reason for this request.
Our seniors are the hardest hit and most vulnerable during the COVID 19 crisis, but we also know that isolation can also be extremely hard. Our first priority was to keep everyone as safe as possible while continuing to provide essential services such as hot meals or food from our pantry for pick up or delivery, transportation for medical needs, prescription delivery, Meals on Wheels, and continued access to our Social Services/Wellness resources. Not only have we continued those, we are figuring out new ways to support our community with virtual opportunities from classes and programs. All of this has come at a high financial cost and that combined with having to cancel most of our major fundraisers has led NSC to start a Crisis Recovery Campaign in hopes of making up for our anticipated $500,000 loss. Our part in this is to start this fundraiser by reaching out to our fabulous friends, who we hope will reach out to their fabulous friends, and so on. You can become part of our team, start your own team or just help us get the word out by sharing with your…well, fabulous friends! Any and all donations that we receive will make sure that we can continue to meet the needs of our community now and after the COVID 19 crisis is over.
Without significant fundraising, we are projecting to lose more than $500,000 this year, which would put us out of business. We need your help now more than ever!
Please make a donation to our Crisis Response Fundraiser.
Stay Safe and Well,
Zorna Kimball and Kelly Hosea
