The World Music residency has been part of the fifth grade curriculum for a few years.  We are happy to welcome Mr. Jeff Handley, a Chicago percussionist who begins our music residency by providing an overview through video and instruments showing how musical influences permeate popular music. Mr. Handley is joined by local musicians to focus on music from a specific region of the world. During each visit, students are introduced to a variety of instruments, musical rhythms, culture and art. In past years visits have focused on India, China, Africa, Mongolia, Latin America and Australia. The entire 5th grade gathers together in the auditorium for these musical experiences.
