The Mariposa Walk celebrates the strength, resilience, and transformational journey of young Latinas and their mothers through education. Every step taken helps provide mentorship, leadership development, college access, and the support families need to achieve educational success and economic mobility.

Why I’m Walking

I’m walking because Con Mi MADRE changed the trajectory of my life and my family’s story.

I first came to Con Mi MADRE as a young girl alongside my mom. At a time when I needed support, I found a safe space, a community that celebrated my culture, lifelong friendships, and people who believed in what was possible for me.

That belief helped carry me to college, to earning my master’s degree, and ultimately to a career dedicated to serving others.

But my Con Mi MADRE story didn’t end when I graduated. I had the privilege of returning to serve on staff for nearly eight years, and today, I have the honor of helping steward its mission as a board leader.

Now the story comes full circle as the next generation of my family, my daughter, gets to experience the same community that poured so much into me.

That’s why I’m walking.

I’m walking for the girl I was.
I’m walking for my mom, who walked beside me.
I’m walking for my daughter and other young Latinas finding their own safe space and discovering what is possible for their futures.
And I’m walking so that generations of families after mine can have the same opportunity.
