United Rescue Alliance (URA) seeks important funding to deliver a comprehensive disaster response and preparedness summer course to students of Tel Aviv University. The university estimates that about 100 students from their Master of Disaster Management, English, and Public Health Departments will participate. Over 4 days, URA will provide 32 hours of specialized training to actively support new, emerging, and current first responders. This course will assist in building leadership to support their peers and communities in times of crisis.

This course will provide in-depth disaster response training on topics including Mental, Emotional, Spiritual, and Social Health (MESSH), Public Health in Disasters, Whole Community Disaster Preparation, Disaster Medical Operations, Incident Command Structure, Disaster Psychology, and Search and Rescue. The course will emphasize the practical applications of skills and building teams of community leaders with expertise in each of these areas to maximize positive survival outcomes in the event of a disaster.

URA understands that it is not a matter of IF a disaster will strike, but WHEN, and the organization is committed to providing future and current disaster responders with comprehensive training in URA’s copyrighted framework, Mental, Emotional, Social, and Spiritual Health (MESSH) and Disaster Public Health topics. This course aims to prevent and reduce the catastrophic impacts of disasters. Through the implementation of this course, URA will continue to help save lives, streamline recovery, and foster community resilience before, during, and after large-scale disasters.

Students will complete the four-day training and disaster simulation exercise before completing a final exam and receiving a MESSH certificate. This course will be administered at Tel Aviv University. Training will consist of three full days of instruction and culminate in a disaster simulation exercise on the fourth day.

United Rescue Alliance is seeking funding for a team of three to go to Tel Aviv, Israel to administer the course. Best practice disaster response techniques are most effectively taught from a hands-on approach. As such, having this team physically present in Tel Aviv is vital to the success of the course.
