The Texas Playboys Baseball Club, in partnership with Love, Tito’s, Blue Sky Partners, and Basket Case Design, is committed to heightening awareness of and raising money for local causes. They use ten game days to do both via a raffle on behalf of an Austin non-profit (choosing a different one for each game), as part of the club’s annual giving back campaign, #steppinuptotheplate.

Why? Because stepping up to the plate – weaving acts of community service, giving, and activism into this version of the game – changes the game. It is not about wins and losses, or

any one person’s individual performance. Sooner or later, even game-winning grand slams are forgotten. However, the money raised for local causes will have a lasting impact.

This year, the club's fundraising goal is $100,000, with Love, Tito’s having agreed to match $25,000 in donations and Blue Sky Partners matching $10,000 of the funds raised. The charities that the Texas Playboys support are non-partisan 501(c)(3) organizations.

About the Texas Playboys Baseball Club

Founded in 2006, The Texas Playboys Baseball Club is an Austin-based social aid and pleasure club. Named after the King of Western Swing Bob Wills’ (literal) band of creatives, the club includes the Texas Playboys baseball team, season ticket holders, and the team’s infamous booster club, the Playboys Nuts. Together, they are an international community of civic-minded creatives — artists, filmmakers, musicians, writers, restaurateurs, rump shakers, taste makers, and purple rainmakers — and the undisputed leader of the Sandlot Revolution.
