Our Prom, Their New Beginning: Why I'm Running for Prom Royalty

My name is Tracy Frederick, and I’m running for Prom Royalty in support of Mending Spirits Animal Rescue. This campaign is deeply personal for me because my family's heart has been filled by the incredible spirit of a rescue animal, and now, as a foster family, we get to be a part of their new beginning.

My story with rescue animals started the day we brought our dog, Marley, home. He was not quite a year old, and the history of his first year was a complete unknown to us. He was terrified of simple things—refusing to go downstairs, hating car rides, and stopping dead in his tracks whenever something spooked him, even if it was just a parked car. But we loved him, showed him endless care and kindness, and watched him blossom. Marley went from an anxious, scared dog to the best possible family dog we could ever ask for.

The transformation we saw in Marley taught us what a true "second chance" looks like. That experience inspired us to do more. After we lost Marley, we knew we wanted to give back, and we recently became a foster family for Mending Spirits. There’s no feeling like providing a safe, temporary home to an animal in need and then seeing them find their forever family. While saying goodbye to a foster is bittersweet, knowing they're heading to a happy home fills my heart with joy.

A Prom with a Purpose

Did you know Mending Spirits Animal Rescue is 100% volunteer-based? This means every dollar you donate goes directly toward providing for the animals in our care, not to staff salaries or overhead. And, we simply can't do this life-saving work without you. Your donation provides the essentials a rescued animal needs:

Daily Care: Food, bedding, toys, litter, and other comforts.
Safety & Comfort: Kennels, leashes, and harnesses to keep them safe.
Medical Treatment: Vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, and other critical care.

The Second Chance Prom is our chance to relive a magical night and create new memories, all while making a tangible difference. It's a second chance for us, and a second chance for every animal Mending Spirits saves. Let's make this prom about compassion, purpose, and new beginnings.
