Our CC4C supporters help provide critical resources, hope, and community to families navigating the uncharted challenges of rare diseases like Ryland's.
Ryland is an energetic, adventurous kid who thrives on friendship, fun, and new challenges. A huge soccer and Ronaldo fan, he also trains in ATA and proudly holds a Blue Belt. He’s passionate about YouTube and can talk endlessly about his favorite videos, filling every room with enthusiasm and joy. Family, faith, and connection mean the world to him, and he lights up when surrounded by loved ones.
Ryland and his identical twin were born four weeks early in Las Vegas due to preeclampsia and growth concerns. He spent five weeks in the NICU after a difficult birth, with an absent sucking reflex and a low Apgar score. Doctors soon discovered a heart defect (ASD), hypospadias, and poor feeding that led to failure to thrive. A later genetic test revealed a rare chromosome abnormality—missing material on the 4th chromosome and extra on the 6th.
By kindergarten, Ryland was diagnosed with an intellectual disability and began receiving special education services. Now living in Texas, he thrives in both school and the Special Olympics. He embraces his diagnosis with pride, sharing what makes him unique and inspiring those around him. Socially behind but endlessly determined, Ryland’s larger-than-life personality brings joy and connection wherever he goes.
