Dear Patterson Associate-
Rebuilding Together is partnering with Sigma Beta Rho Fraternity to provide home repairs and improvements for a senior homeowner living within SW Atlanta. Rebuilding Together-Atlanta is a part of the national affilate network and is thrilled you are volunteering with us. You will be supporting Philp and Gloria Evants who has lived in his home for 62 years.
Meet the Homeowner
Phillip and Gloria Evans
Philip and Gloria Evans have called Atlanta home their entire lives. Their love story began shortly after high school, and in 1963, they were married-building a life together that has now spanned more than 62 years. For over five decades, they have lived in their beloved home in the Ben Acres neighborhood of Southwest Atlanta, witnessing the changes in their community while remaining a steadfast presence.
Mr. Evans dedicated over 30 years of service to the United States Postal Service, embodying the spirit of hard work and commitment. Their only son lives in Atlanta but frequently travels for his career, making it difficult for him to assist with home maintenance. Though the Evans family has always taken great pride in their home, the challenges of aging, health concerns, and financial constraints have made it increasingly difficult to keep up with necessary repairs.
Both Philip and Gloria now rely on mobility aids—a cane and a walker—to navigate their home safely. While they recently added a wheelchair ramp to improve accessibility, other areas of their home remain hazardous. One of their greatest joys has always been gardening, but due to safety concerns with their backyard deck and uneven entryways, they have been unable to enjoy the outdoor spaces they cherish.
During the upcoming Day of Service, Sigma Beta Rho Fraternity members will come together to make a meaningful impact on the Evans' lives by providing essential home repairs and improvements These critical updates will allow the Evans to age in place safely and comfortably, continuing to be a part of the community they have called home for so many years. In addition, they have recently received a roof replacement. The current roof has been leaking causing significant damage to the ceiling and walls in the house.
In Mr. Evans’ own words:
"I have done my best over the years to maintain my home. But with age, I can no longer do it alone. We are so grateful for the kindness and generosity of Sigma Beta Rho Fraternity Members. Your support means everything—it allows us to stay in our home and in the community we cherish."
Thank you for your time and commitment to Rebuilding Together Atlanta, and serving a senior homeowner in need of home repairs. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday May15.
The fundraising goal for this project is $1,000.00. This will help cover project expenses, materials and tools needed for the volunteer day of service. Please donate to to help the Evans with needed home repairs. Every donation helps!
