Formerly Rebuilding Together of the Triangle, Preserving Home is a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit organization and a licensed general contractor assisting Triangle-area neighbors in need of home repair services. 

Hundreds of our neighbors live in unacceptable conditions without the means to move or to improve their homes. You can help ensure that those most vulnerable--seniors, individuals with disabilities, and families with children--have safe, healthy homes.

Most of the programs that fund our work have restrictions and price caps. Imagine trying to choose between urgent needs like functional plumbing, HVAC, accessibility, and/or roofing–an impossible choice! Your gift is vital to ensuring that all needs can be met. 

Stock Donations

• Gifts of stocks or bonds are a tax-efficient way to support Preserving Home.

Qualified Charitable Distributions

• Donate from your IRA:

  • Individuals aged 70.5+ can make a tax-free donation from an IRA to a qualified charity through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). The donated amount is not included in your taxable income.

  • In 2025, the annual QCD limit is $108,000

  • Married couples can donate up to $216,000 combined if both meet qualifications and have separate IRAs

  • A QCD can help satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) requirement while supporting a charitable cause without incurring additional taxes
