Hello everyone! I'm Peter Garner and I am so excited to invite you to an event that means so much to me! The Second Chance Prom for Mending Spirits Animal Rescue.
Growing up, I never had a pet and I was fearful of dogs for many reasons. I had lived abroad in Latin America and dealt with street dogs that sadly left me traumatized. This all changed when I returned from the Peace Corps and met my partner Addie and her golden retriever Nuomi. Nuomi showed me that dogs can be your friend and loyal companion, and always be there for you in difficult times. We eventually got another golden retriever Naala, who gives her unconditional love to anyone and anything. My parents adopted my brother's cat Spock and everytime I visit one can tell he is thriving and is really friendly.

πΎ Why I Care About Adoption
Because every life deserves a chance to be chosen.
Adoption isn’t just about rescuing an animal—it’s about rewriting a story. It’s about looking into eyes that have known abandonment, fear, or neglect, and saying, “You matter. You’re safe now.” I care about adoption because it reminds me that healing is possible, that love can be unconditional, and that the bonds we form don’t have to be born from perfection—they can rise from resilience.
Every adopted animal carries a quiet history. And every time we choose to adopt, we say that history doesn’t define their future. That’s the kind of love I believe in.
Come help make a difference for our community and support adoption! And come enjoy this awesome event that is sure to be the highlight of the year!
