The Austin Under 40 Awards recognizes the most impressive young leaders in our city and it’s also a fundraiser for ASC. As part of the program, all 90 finalists take on the Trailblazer Challenge: a friendly fundraising competition in the weeks leading up to the May 9th Awards Gala. The finalist who raises the most will receive the Trailblazer Award that night.

The Austin Sunshine Camps (ASC) provides transformative overnight camp experiences to Austin-area youth who would otherwise never have the chance to go: kids on free or reduced lunch, and children in the foster care system. Each summer, ASC welcomes more than 500 children across four 10-day sessions where they explore nature, build friendships, and develop confidence that stays with them long after the summer ends.

The best part? ASC covers the full cost. Families pay nothing.

Sending one child to camp costs approximately $1,500, and every dollar raised goes directly toward making that happen. ASC is also working to expand capacity in the coming years, so the children on the waitlist today can have their turn at camp tomorrow.
