With over 8,000 Survivors of the Holocaust living in Los Angeles, Jewish Family Service LA is the leading organization caring for these heroes. JFSLA provides life-saving services and a caring community for over 1,300 Survivors of the Holocaust. Working to ensure that Survivors can age with dignity and respect, they offer a variety of support services and practical assistance. Their comprehensive programming includes direct support and the practical help Survivors need to remain in their own homes. JFSLA’s compassionate and specially trained staff can help with things like caregiver assistance, social worker support, and emergency financial needs. They also offer a wonderful way to connect with other survivors through our Café Europa weekly social programs.

The weekly Survivor social gatherings are without question the highlight of my week. If I could, I would bring every person I know to at least one event. Anyone expecting a slow, depressing atmosphere will immediately realize their belief could not be further from the truth. The Survivors are filled with high energy, humor and love, and usually out-dance and out-sing the volunteers. Even our 107-year-old survivor, Risa! It is a privilege to spend time with these heroes every week, both listening to their stories and having the best of times.

All the funds raised will go directly to these services helping improve the quality of life of our survivor neighbors who so deserve nothing but the best.
