Join Me In Advancing Climate Justice In Our Own Backyards My passion for environmental science, policy, climate action, and community resilience started early. Growing up in predominantly black, overburdened neighborhoods east of the Anacostia River exposed me to environmental inequities and issues before I knew what environmental justice was. As a young Washingtonian in a city rapidly changing in demography, politics, and environment, there was value and promise in every new community victory garden, volunteer river clean-up, and school-wide composting initiative I participated in.

After winning the Shine Award at the 2009 DC Scores Poetry Slam, I recite "Let's All Save the World Together", a poem I wrote in the 4th grade about climate change and community action.
The differentiated ways in which lower-income Americans and people of color are impacted by extreme weather, pollution, and redlining drive my dedication to addressing the climate crisis and rooting out the environmental injustices that impact health, economic mobility, and wellbeing.
The Center for Engagement, Environmental Justice, and Health INpowering Communities (CEEJH INC) is tackling this injustice at its roots by empowering the very communities on the front lines. Through the Climate Justice Fellows Program , CEEJH is cultivating a powerful, global network of advocates equipped to turn passion into lasting, community-driven change.
The Climate Justice Fellows Program is an intensive fellowship that combines education in environmental and climate justice principles with hands-on, practical experience. It is designed to empower individuals to become effective advocates and leaders in their communities through a dynamic, practice-based learning experience.

A Rigorous, Practice-Based Journey : Fellows engage in virtual learning and hands-on projects, gaining practical skills to address local environmental challenges. They receive direct mentorship from national experts in policy, science, and advocacy.
Barrier-Free Access to Opportunity : To ensure passion is the only prerequisite, the program is fully funded. Each fellow receives a $2,500 stipend , and all travel and lodging for essential in-person retreats are covered.
A Truly Global Community : This fellowship builds bridges across borders. In 2025, we welcomed fellows from 16 different countries , creating a rich network for shared learning and global solidarity.
