About Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County

The HBA Charitable Foundation is a tax-exempt corporation under section 501(c )(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The Foundation’s current function is to provide scholarship funds to students who are either children/grandchildren of HBA members, or who are studying in skilled trades related to the home building industry such as: framing, plumbing, HVAC, engineering, architecture, construction management, etc.  Currently, the home building industry is facing a massive worker shortage as fewer and fewer students are studying the skilled trades.  The Foundation provides $10,000 a year to Wake Tech Community College students.

As we look ahead, we want to expand the Foundation and the role it plays in the workforce development of our industry.  We want to invest not only in scholarships, but in high school programs that show students skilled trades are a viable and desirable career path.  We’ve been building up connections with Vernon-Malone and Wake Forest High School, who both have Advisory Councils and programs that teach students skilled trades.

The purpose of this year’s fundraiser is to raise at least the $10,000 we spend every year in scholarships, and if possible, more to begin investing in other programs.

Thank you to this year's Fundraiser Sponsors: Lennar and BMC!
