In Loving Memory of Raymond Patrick Sulkowski

1929–2026

Raymond Patrick Sulkowski of Hudson, Florida (formerly Livonia, Michigan) passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026. Raymond was born August 25, 1929, and raised in Detroit, Michigan.

Raymond served in the armed forces as a member of the 21st Troops Carrier Squadron at Clark Airforce Base. He married his wife, Helen Cupicha June 28, 1952. They grew up living across the street from each other in a polish neighborhood in metro Detroit. Soon after they were married, they bought their first home in Redford, where they raised their four children; Deborah, Janice, Mark, and David, and formed many life long friendships.

Raymond was a skilled tool and die maker and took great pride in his career at Ford Motor Company. In 1990, Raymond and Helen retired to Hudson Florida, where they enjoyed life on the golf course and the freedom to play whenever he wished. He especially loved playing cards, something he and Helen did almost every day and something they taught their grandchildren to play and enjoy when they came along. Raymond also had a beautiful singing voice and found joy in music and classic black-and-white films. Raymond and Helen enjoyed spending time on the lake on their boat “Blonde” and after retiring, returning to Michigan to spend time with their children and grandchildren at the lake each summer. He treasured time spent with family and friends, especially when they came to visit.

He lived 96 remarkable years. He saw generations grow, enjoyed retirement and lived an enriched life. He will be deeply missed for his voice, his stories, and the comfort of his presence. His memory will stay with us always.

Raymond is preceded in death by his wife, Helen; his parents Casmer and Josephine; and his siblings Edward Sulkowski, Irene Nolan, and Mary Ann Moll. He is survived by his brother Henry Sulkowski; his four children, Deborah Bennett, Janice (Doug) Adams, Mark (Debbie) Sulkowski, and David (Vicki) Sulkowski; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Lindsey, Alysha, Grant (Bentley), Renae (Luke), Natalie (Chad), Becky (Daniel), Shannon, and Bryan; and five great-grandchildren, Ben, Wyatt, Blakely, Beckham, Jack, and Banks.

A celebration of life will be held in Michigan this summer, with a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Gulfside Hospice at 2061 Collier Parkway, Land O Lakes FL 34639.
