A free public teaching garden, a safe learning space where everyone can learn how to plant, GROW and harvest fresh produce and integrate local food into their lives with others.
Unlike rent-a-space community gardens, The Learning Garden is a hands-on community teaching space. We host after-school educational programming, day camps, educational workshops, field trips, community service days and more. Check out our Educational Pages for more information on these activities.
We also host once a week OPEN HOURS for community members to learn how to sustainably grow food. Open hours are free and open to all ages. Come get a tour of the garden, see what is in season, ask questions, and engage in hands-on learning by getting your hands dirty with our current gardening tasks.
Please wear closed-toed shoes to The Learning Garden and dress weather-appropriately. Drinking water is available, but we ask you bring a reusable drinking container to help reduce our waste.
Anyone can GROW at The Learning Garden. Visit The Garden during our volunteer hours to get started or get more information:
September-April
May-August:
The above hours are open to everyone and will have staff available for tours, questions, education and hands-on garden tasks. But even if our gates are closed, there is plenty to do/see at the garden on your own. Outside our fence we have our Food Forest and Pollinator Garden/Monarch Waystation open all day/every day to our community as well as plenty of open space for community activities and a popular walking track around the park.
We also have free mulch available for pickup for home garden use. If this is your first time picking up garden mulch, please come during one of our open hours so a staff member can guide you as to how to back up your vehicle to avoid damage to our park. After your first pick up, you are welcome to pick up mulch at your convenience. Remember to always tarp your trailers/truck beds for safety.
