Volunteer at the Festival Beach Food Forest Solar Cookout!
Every great community day runs on the community, those who spend their time ensuring everything works. That's what volunteering at the Solar Cookout is about; helping neighbors, families, and first-time visitors experience the Festival Beach Food Forest the way it's meant to be experienced: food on the table and sun on your face.
This is a celebration of food and climate resilience, hosted at RBJ Senior Housing and the Festival Beach Food Forest on September 20th from 12pm to 4pm. Behind the solar cooking demos, the activities, the music, and the shared meal, there's a team of volunteers making sure the day feels effortless. We'd love for you to be one of them!
Why Volunteer
The Festival Beach Food Forest is a living, growing, and changing demonstration of what climate-resilient food systems can look like in a bustling city. We host events to help educate and bring the community closer together around a sustainable future. This event will help support the future construction of the Cocina Cosecha, an outdoor kitchen designed by Fruitful Commons, FBFF, and other partners to provide a space for community gathering, education, and beyond.
Where You're Needed
We have volunteer roles for every kind of helper! Introductory table, hands-on with activities, or working quietly on set-up and take down!
Cook-off Support Assist with food prep, serving, and keeping the community meal area stocked and welcoming. If you love feeding people, this is your spot.
Kids' Activities & Sun Shade Painting Set up, restock supplies, and keep the creative energy going at our hands-on art and craft tables.
Welcome, Parking & Wayfinding Help guests find their way from the parking garage through the gate to the Food Forest. Clear, friendly signage and a few smiling faces at key points make a big difference here — this is one of the roles we're especially eager to fill.
Setup & Teardown Arrive early or stay a little later to help set up tables, tents, and signage before the day begins, or break it all down once it wraps.
