A newly planted fruit tree needs extra care in its first few years as it establishes. Let's meet under the trees at Festival Beach Food Forest for a rundown on care, observation, and maintenance strategies for stacking the odds in your favor! We'll discuss fungal-dominated composting to provide favorable soil conditions for fruit trees. Then we'll learn to leverage calendar reminders to stay on top of monitoring conditions and being proactive to better establish newly planted trees here in our quirky Central Texas climate. Proper tree planting is also crucial for establishment and a healthy life expectancy, so we'll demonstrate how to plant correctly!

Bring your passion for learning, your curiosity to cultivate fruit, and don't forget a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated.

Parking: Construction is blocking parking in front of the food forest on Waller. You can park farther north on Waller in front of the community garden (and beyond) and walk south down the sidewalk to the food forest. Free parking is also available in the lower level of the Ladybird Parking garage on Art Dilly St. behind the food forest.

Event Coordinator:
