Last year, we received a request from a gentleman in Bertram who was in desperate need of help. He wrote:

"My house is falling apart around me. I am disabled and have stage 4 COPD. My windows are falling off the house. The kitchen and bathroom floor need repair and wheelchair access, as I can’t breathe long enough without running out of breath and turning gray and white."

Sadly, when we tried to reach out, we were never able to get in touch with him. Later, we learned that he had passed away. After leaving cards at his home, we finally connected with his widow, Ms. Jowers, and discovered that he had left behind eight daughters and 16 grandchildren.

At first, Ms. Jowers and her daughter were embarrassed to accept help—but then they were overwhelmed with gratitude, seeing how God had sent Cornerstone Restoration to them at just the right time. What a blessing that, even in his final days, this gentleman was thinking of his family’s future and filled out a project request to ensure they would be cared for.

There are so many opportunities here to show God’s love to this sweet widow and her family. Their home is in serious need of repairs, rodent removal, roofing, and electrical work.
