Backyard composting does not have to be complicated! Come learn how to successfully decompose food scraps, grass clippings, and other waste right at home. We’ll teach you how to manage a pile that does not create unpleasant smells nor attract rodents.
Gain hands-on experience by building a new pile in community with others at Festival Beach Food Forest. We’ll provide you with take-home resources to support your post-workshop composting journey!
This event is supported by Festival Beach Food Forest and City of Austin Urban Forestry Grant.
What to Bring:
-
Dress for the weather and physical activity! Closed toed shoes are advised
-
Water, sun protection, snack if you’d like
-
Bring your own chair if you’d like for the presentation portion
Construction is blocking parking in front of the food forest on Waller. You can park farther north on Waller in front of the community garden (and beyond) and walk south down the sidewalk to the food forest (we are the unfenced side of the park-- the Community Garden is behind the fence). Free parking also available on the first floor of the Ladybird parking garage on Art Dilly st. behind the food forest.
