Beavers Northwest and Mercer Island Parks and Recreation are teaming up to host a nature walk at Luther Burbank Park at 6:30pm on Thursday, September 3rd! This event is free, but registraiton is required!
Participants will meet near The Source landform statue here. The most convenient parking location will be the south lot. Beavers Northwest staff will lead attendees on a walk to explore the area and provide context on the beaver presence in the wetlands there. This is a great opportunity to see the impacts that beavers have on ecosystems, observe the plants and wildlife that thrive in beaver-modified systems, and discuss beaver coexistence in our human-modified ecosystems.
The walk will last approximately 2 hours and participants will travel a distance of approximately 1 mile on flat gravel trails. We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes and to dress for the weather. For best viewing of wildlife, we recommend bringing binoculars. We will have a few pairs available to borrow.
