Join Beavers Northwest and The Pond Beyond for a beaver-themed nature walk and exploration of The Pond Beyond's natural area!
Participants will meet Beavers Northwest staff at The Pond Beyond parking lot on Tuesday June 11th at 7:30pm. Beavers Northwest staff will lead attendees on a walk to explore The Pond Beyond and provide context on the beaver presence in this area. This is a great opportunity to see the impacts that beavers have on ecosystems, observe the plants and wildlife that thrive in beaver-modified systems, and discuss beaver coexistence in our human-modified ecosystems.
The event will last approximately 2 hours and participants will travel a distance of approximately 0.5 miles on flat gravel trails and boardwalks. We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes and to dress for the weather. For best viewing of wildlife, we recommend bringing binoculars. We will have a few pairs available to borrow.
About The Pond Beyond:
The Pond Beyond is a unique place with engaging opportunities for all who gather here. It is a grassroots effort that started with the vision of Tim Noah and Cyndi Elliott in 2016: "Humanity in Harmony with Nature." When they first walked onto the property, a 17-acre former gravel quarry, they saw possibilities and the potential not only to tell a story of reclamation and renewal, but to bring people in from the greater community to be part of the journey. No matter the age or background of our visitors, the message of living in harmony with nature is consistent and embedded in everything we do. As Tim and Cyndi are singer-songwriters, music is a big part of how we communicate this message. We also share the vision through art, science, connecting with farm animals and hands-on restoration work. Even the youngest visitors to The Pond Beyond can be part of this process as they listen to songs about the natural environment, discover what lives in the pond water, learn why clean water is important, and joyfully spread bags of leaves that have been donated to help replenish the soils here. All these experiences can be taken beyond our gates and applied elsewhere, creating positive ripples of change in how we interact with our environment. Above all, we want people, young and old, to leave The Pond Beyond feeling inspired to take part in caring for our amazing planet and to live in harmony with nature.
