This campaign has been an ongoing effort of Rotary International since 1985 when the global PolioPlus campaign was begun.
In honor of World Polio Day, Rotary members around the world rally their clubs and communities to support the fight to end polio forever. Over the years, more than 4,000 clubs in 136 countries organized more than 5,900 events to raise awareness and funds for polio eradication. Brazil, the United States, Nigeria, Italy, and the Philippines held the most events, respectively.
