Why I'm Running.

If you ask almost anyone why this cause matters to them, they can name someone immediately. I can too. My aunt. My cousin. My friend. My friend’s parent. My neighbor. My grandfather. These are just a few of the people in my life whose lives have been deeply affected by cancer.

Like so many others, I have seen firsthand that a diagnosis never affects just one person. It reaches parents, siblings, children, friends, and entire communities who love them and walk beside them through fear, hope, treatment, loss, and resilience.

Over the years, I have tried to be part of that support system for the people I love, and through those experiences I have come to understand how important emotional support can be alongside medical care. That is one of the reasons I feel so honored to be running the New York City Marathon in support of Cancer Support Community.

Why Cancer Support Community.

I believe deeply that community is stronger than cancer. CSC provides free emotional and social support for people impacted by cancer through support groups, educational workshops, navigation services, and healthy lifestyle programs. They support patients, survivors, caregivers, and loved ones through every stage of the experience, helping people feel less alone during one of the hardest chapters of life.

Cancer does not pause life, and neither do the emotional challenges that come with it. CSC exists so that people have access to trusted support, real connection, and meaningful resources when they need them most.

I am aiming to raise $5,000 in honor of the people in my life who have lost their battle, those who continue to fight, and those who have survived. If you feel comfortable, I would love for you to include the name of someone you are thinking of when you donate. I will carry their name with me and honor them as I run each mile of the race through New York City.
