This year's Gala theme of "woven threads" resonates strongly within the VOR community. It reflects how we unite as staff and volunteers to embrace the refugee families who enter our lives. Our connections are formed through shared stories, prayers, and experiences, showcasing God's love in these relationships. We are all part of God’s plan for salvation. We are privileged to serve as witnesses to their journey. They receive the insights the Lord reveals to them through our care and support.
“That their hearts may be comforted, they being knit together in love, and gaining all riches of the full assurance of understanding, that they may know the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, in whom all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden.” - Colossians 2:2-3
This year, we are introducing “THE SOUK” or the marketplace which takes place during the first hour of the event. An interactive experience where guests will tour multiple stations in the outdoor space, where they will explore various oriental cultures including:
- Make your own perfume
- Make your own spice jar mix
- Middle Eastern tea tasting and hospitality table
- Arabic Calligraphy writing with a customized take-home souvenir
- Arabic embroidery display
While Oriental music plays in the background and hors-d’oeuvres are being offered, our donors can enjoy a pleasant time on the patio during sunset and discover more about different cultures that represent VOR.
