Dear Friends and Family,
The fellow in the middle of this picture, sporting the bushy fake beard, is my 92 year old Dad - Wally Franz.
For the last month he has been quarantined to his apartment at Woodland Terrace, a Senior Living Community in Bothell, WA. The isolation imposed by Covid-19 has been difficult for Dad who is used to playing practical jokes on staff, visiting with his mates in the dining room, driving to 24 hour fitness (yikes), walking his dog Gypsy and practicing with his band. He is not tech savvy (ancient flip-phone), and he is not one to ask for help. Dad has been fortunate that he has regular meals brought to his apartment, and family members to pick up prescriptions, barbells, hobby supplies .... and special dog treats. Many are not so fortunate …. and that’s where Northshore Senior Center (NSC) fills the gap.
We have all experienced how Covid-19 has been ravaging our community, and seniors have proven to be the most at-risk. During this time of crisis, Northshore Senior Center has stepped up to help ensure seniors in our community can stay home and stay safe. As a NSC Board Member, I am especially proud of the work we've been doing, such as delivering food and prescriptions, but our organization is at risk. We know that we need to adapt fast to our changing reality. Now, more than ever, our community - our Dads and Moms needs us…and we need you.
Without significant fundraising, we are projecting to lose more than $500,000 this year, which would put us out of business. We need your help now more than ever!
Please make a donation to our Crisis Response Fundraiser.
Stay safe and well,
Suzanne Greathouse
