The following items are encouraged:
- Artificial plants
- Bath towels
- Books
- Lamps and lampshades
- Linens (size twin, full, queen)
- Miscellaneous kitchen items (kid-friendly dishware, mixing bowls, measuring cups/spoons, tupperware, cutting boards, knives and knife blocks, pyrex pans)
- Small kitchen appliances (such as toasters, air fryers, blenders, crock pots, tea kettles, hand mixers)
- Throw pillows
DIGS Demo Booths
Get hands-on experience with common warehouse projects led by DIGS Designer Sara Robertson and Repair & Restoration Expert Jan Claibourne. Learn how we:
Prepare baskets for DIGS kids - Every member of a DIGS family receives a personal basket of goodies. Put together games, books, and toys for upcoming families based on their kids’ ages and interests.
Reupholster furniture - Get to know the materials and tools we use each week to refresh used furniture with new upholstery.
Keynote from Mark Pruitt
With over 25 years of experience in the energy commodity markets, Mark assists organizations with energy planning, project evaluation, procurement processes and contract negotiations. His current work focuses on advising over sixty communities on municipal aggregation (including the City of Chicago), evaluating and negotiating long-term power purchase agreements for renewable energy projects, and advising on energy legislation in Springfield.
In his prior role as the first Director of the Illinois Power Agency, he secured electricity supply on behalf of approximately 4.7 million residential and small commercial ratepayer accounts serviced by Commonwealth Edison and Ameren Illinois. During his tenure at the Agency, the Agency evaluated and negotiated agreements around a series of alternative generation projects ranging from wind and solar projects to clean coal projects including FutureGen, Tensaska, Chicago Clean Energy, and Power Holdings.
Additionally, Mark has served as an advisor to research and project teams at Argonne National Lab and the Illinois Institute of Technology; and he currently serves as an adjunct professor for Northwestern University’s Masters of Science in Energy and Sustainability program where he instructs the next generation of energy leaders on energy policy, markets and regulation.
