Pentathlon is a milestone of Waldorf curriculum, and this year it's Ms. Knox's class turn to participate, along with other regional Waldorf schools. Together the class will travel to Georgia, have an overnight campout, and complete 2 days of events.
This tradition coincides with Greek history studies. Students have trained in five Olympic events: discus, javelin, ring wrestling, relay race, and long jump.
Students will not compete against each other directly; they are striving to do their own personal best, and the judges also consider their beautiful form, and how they conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike manner.
The skills involved in these sports celebrate the culmination of their coordination and balance— physically, mentally, and emotionally.
