PAINT DAY! Sunday, Aug 30th. Third try is the charm, and we're hoping for clear weather. We need 6-10 volunteers to paint the green bike lane sections and the Carvel St bump out mural.
Data Gathering - The State Fair is over, so we can start taking post-install data again. Thank you for signing up for 1-hr volunteer shifts.
On Sunday, August 2nd, 2026, volunteers and neighbors gathered near the intersection of East 46th Street and the Monon Trail to install a safety demonstration project, designed to calm traffic between Arsenal Park and Winthrop Avenue - including the Monon Trail crosswalk.
This intersection has been uncomfortable and unsafe for too long. Families avoid it. Kids can't cross. Tires screech. We're changing that—and we're doing it together.
Installation Day (Aug 2nd) was a one-day volunteer event where volunteers installed and activated a safer version of this busy stretch of 46th St. We enjoyed good music, morning coffee, great company, and the satisfaction of leaving a mark (literally) on your neighborhood. It was raining on Aug 2nd, so we didn't get to paint. The Paint Day was rescheduled for a later date.
Can't make it to volunteer with us? No problem! You can make a donation!
Whether or not you are able to volunteer, we would love to put your donation to work in making this Monon Trail crossing and section of 46th Street safer for all road users with this three-month safety demonstration project. Indy DPW matches 50% of the project cost for consumable items and paint, and we need to fundraise the remainder from our community. Thanks for your support, and for sharing this with your neighbors and other Monon Trail users!
