On August 1, 2026, volunteers and neighbors will gather near the intersection of East 46th Street and the Monon Trail to install a safety demonstration project, designed to calm traffic between Arsenal Park and Winthrop Avenue.
This intersection has been uncomfortable and unsafe for too long. Families avoid it. Kids can't cross. Tires screech. We're changing that—and we're doing it together.
Installation Day is a one-day volunteer event where you can help paint, install, and activate a safer version of this busy intersection. Expect good music, morning coffee, great company, and the satisfaction of leaving a mark (literally) on your neighborhood. Volunteer spots are limited to 50. Sign up to claim yours!
Make a Donation! - Whether or not you are able to volunteer, we would love to put your donation to work in making this Monon Trail crosswalk and section of 46th Street safer for all road users with this multi-month safety demonstration project. Indy DPW matches 50% of the project cost for consumable items and paint, and we need to fundraise the remainder from our community. Thanks for your support, and for sharing this with your neighbors and other Monon Trail users!
