46th St Project Removal - Monday, Nov 2nd, 11:30 am - 3:30 pm. Volunteers are needed! We'll be loading the materials onto a U-Haul truck and delivering them back to the DPW Yard. As a temporary project, it has to be removed before the Winter snow season. We'll be presenting the speed, crosswalk observations, and survey results to Indy DPW in support of a future quick build or safer redesign of this crosswalk, S-curve, and 46th St past Arsenal Park.
Sept 15th Walking Tour - Indy MPO organized a walking tour of the 46th St Safety Demonstration Project and that was in the news - Indianapolis tests tactical urbanism near busy Monon Trail crossing (WTHR).
PAINT DAY! Sunday, Aug 30th. Third try was the charm. We had clear weather and completed the Carvel Street bump out mural the green bike lane sections. Thank you volunteers!
Data Gathering - We're evaluating the pre-install and post-install data we have, and we'll let you know if we need to gather more post-install data. Stay tuned.
On Sunday, August 2nd, 2026, volunteers and neighbors gathered near the intersection of East 46th Street and the Monon Trail to install a safety demonstration project, designed to calm traffic between Arsenal Park and Winthrop Avenue - including the Monon Trail crosswalk.
This intersection has been uncomfortable and unsafe for too long. Families avoid it. Kids can't cross. Tires screech. We're changing that—and we're doing it together.
Installation Day (Aug 2nd) was a one-day volunteer event where volunteers installed and activated a safer version of this busy stretch of 46th St. We enjoyed good music, morning coffee, great company, and the satisfaction of leaving a mark (literally) on your neighborhood. It was raining on Aug 2nd, so we didn't get to paint. The Paint Day was rescheduled for a later date.
