Since its founding in 1999, the Sundt Foundation has reflected our employee-owners’ passion for giving back to the places where we live and work. Each year, the Foundation awards approximately $2 million in grants to a diverse array of charitable organizations, provides disaster relief contributions, and holds special fundraising events like this tournament in our communities.
Since 2001, the Sundt Foundation has hosted a suite of sporting competitions across the country to raise funds for nonprofit organizations. To date, our golf tournaments have raised over $3 million across our giving areas.
This year’s tournament will be supporting Habitat for Humanity Tucson.
Creating a more compassionate and just world, Habitat for Humanity Tucson brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Habitat for Humanity Tucson (Habitat Tucson) has been a leader in affordable housing serving Pima County since 1980. Working with experienced staff, community partners and thousands of volunteers, Habitat Tucson has built over 500 houses and serves over 950 families. Habitat Tucson’s “hand up, not a handout” policy, offers an innovative solution to poverty housing.
Habitat Tucson partners with families who earn 40-80% of Pima County’s Area Median Income. Habitat homebuyers must meet three primary requirements, demonstrate need, willingness to partner, and ability to pay. Habitat homebuyers complete 250 hours of sweat equity building their and/or their neighbors’ homes, pay a down payment, and commit to pay a mortgage. The mortgage stays affordable as it is never more than 30% of their income. They must also complete homeownership courses, aimed at increasing their financial literacy and home maintenance skills.
