Thank you for including your son or daughter in the Belles and Brass tradition in support of the Waco Symphony Orchestra! The program, which began during the 1965 Waco Symphony concert season, is one of the many ways the Waco Symphony Council promotes community education and advances the mission of the Waco Symphony Orchestra.
The Belles and Brass program introduces area high school sophomore and junior girls and junior boys to the Waco Symphony Orchestra, beginning their lifelong appreciation for symphonic music. It also provides them with opportunities to connect, serve, and engage as future community leaders.
High school girls enter the Belles program their sophomore year and continue through their junior year, and high school boys participate in the Brass program during their junior year. During the program, they attend music appreciation courses, serve as greeters at Waco Symphony concerts, volunteer at Waco Symphony Council events, and participate in activities designed to promote etiquette and leadership. The program culminates the spring of their junior year with a formal presentation followed by a festive Presentation Ball.
