JBR DINNER 2022 LOGISTICS FOR GUESTS
COVID-19 Protocols:
In addition to being vaccinated with any recommended boosts, all attendees must have a negative Covid test. There are two options for the negative test.
- Option 1: Take a Covid test at home and sign an attestation, at sign-in, that it was negative. We highly recommend this option as it is the fastest way to enter the event. Also, TCDP has a LIMITED SUPPLY of tests onsite. We DO NOT have enough tests for every guest. Please test at home if you are able.
- Option 2: TCDP will provide a limited supply of Covid tests at the event, and guests can arrive between 5PM and 5:45PM to take a Covid test on site prior to sign-in. Results will take 15 minutes.
Arrival:
Upon arrival, all guests, speakers, VIPs, staff, and vendors will check in at the COVID-19 testing table before proceeding to the VIP or Dinner check-in tables.
Check-in tables for the VIP Reception and Dinner will be open by 4:45 PM. We encourage all guests to arrive no later than 5:45 PM, as the program will begin promptly at 6 PM. The earlier the better to avoid a bottleneck at the Covid testing station.
Parking:

Self-Park: $8 per vehicle
Valet: $20 per vehicle
To Self-Park:
- Upon entering the Hyatt driveway on Barton Springs, make an immediate right-hand turn to enter the parking garage.
- After parking, follow signs to the garage elevators.
- Push the 2R Button in elevator to gain access to Hotel.
- Pre-Pay Station will be available inside on 2R
Pre-paying for parking will allow for quicker exit out of garage.
To Valet Park:
- Upon entering the Hyatt driveway on Barton Springs, continue straight to Zilker Entrance.
- Valet attendants will be outside Zilker entrance doors to receive cars.
The Hotel is a cash-free facility. Contactless payment options including Apple Pay and all major credit cards are accepted.
VIP Reception:
The VIP Reception with Congresswoman Jayapal will be held on the second floor in the Zilker Terrace area, starting at 5 PM. Entrance to the VIP area will be according to the VIP list, which includes individuals who have purchased VIP Reception tickets, sponsors and guests using VIP tickets provided as part of a sponsorship package, elected officials and a guest, statewide candidates and a guest, and program speakers and a guest.
For security reasons, we must refuse entry to the VIP Reception for unauthorized guests, so we ask that the names and contact information of anyone using a VIP ticket be provided to Cynthia Van Maanen, TCDP Executive Director, by 11 PM on Saturday, July 16.

Join the Travis County Democratic Party for an evening of inspiration and solidarity.
We are thrilled to welcome Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, the first South Asian American woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, as our featured speaker. Rep. Jayapal’s inclusive vision of a democracy where all of us thrive is an inspiration. She will be joined in conversation by Dr. Peniel Joseph, Founding Director of the Center for the Study of Race and Democracy at the LBJ School and author of the forthcoming book "The Third Reconstruction."
Special thanks to Congressman Lloyd Doggett, Greg Casar, Mayor Adler, and Gov. Barnes for their support of our JBR keynote speaker search.
All funds raised at the JBR dinner go towards TCDP’s coordinated campaign to elect Democrats up and down the ballot in November. Travis County is the Democratic stronghold of Texas, and if we can maximize voter turnout here we can be the margin of victory for a new, blue Texas.
The Johnson-Bentsen-Richards (JBR) Dinner is named for three iconic Texans as a tribute to our state’s strong Democratic legacy: President Lyndon B. Johnson, Rep. Lloyd Bentsen, and Gov. Ann Richards.
This year’s event will honor Chuck Herring and Ginny Agnew, who have been a special Democratic couple in Travis County for decades. (Their wedding ceremony before Texas Supreme Court Justice Oscar Mauzy even included vows committing them to remain together “as long as you both shall remain Democrats.” That’s worked for them for 35 years!) Chuck and Ginny have worked on dozens of political campaigns, held countless political fundraisers at their home and served as officers and committee members of many Democratic organizations.
This year TCDP is also excited to introduce the inaugural Alice Yi Mentorship Award, honoring Alice Mingfei Yi for her decades of service lifting up Asian American communities and building coalitions across the party while at the same time creating space for the next generation of changemakers. Alice’s commitment to building a deep bench of Democratic talent in Travis County is a legacy that is sure to span generations to come.
We look forward to celebrating our Democratic community together on July 17th at the Hyatt!
