Workshop: Botanical Dyeing

The Swope's December STEAM workshop will be a natural dyeing workshop and demonstration at The White Violet Center for Eco-Justice. Participants will learn the basics of natural dyes using immersion baths and a variety of natural materials, some of which were grown and gathered at White Violet Center for Eco-Justice. Participants will be able to take sample fabric swatches home with them.
Candace Minster serves as Flower and Fiber Projects Manager for the White Violet Center for Eco-Justice. Her focus is on expanding the flower operation and working with fiber from our alpacas. She has been a member of the White Violet Center team for over 18 years. Her areas of expertise include organic gardening, growing flowers, worm composting, bread baking, food preservation (canning, fermentation, pickling), fiber arts (knitting, spinning and weaving) and fiber processing.
