Looking to turn your business dreams into a reality? Our new Starting Your Business Mini Series is a great place to start. We’re bringing in experienced subject matter experts to share their knowledge and equip aspiring entrepreneurs with the essential knowledge and skills required to successfully start a food business. This is a two-part series. Take one class for $20, or bundle them together for just $30 total.

 

Class 1:

 

Formation of Your Business will be held on Tuesday, June 10 from 6 - 7:30 PM at the Findlay Market Corporate Offices – 19 West Elder, Cincinnati, OH 45202

 

In this class we will cover:

  • Business Formation Steps

  • Choice of Entity 

  • Governing Document 

  • Employee vs. Independent Contractor

  • Key Contracts for Your Business

 

This class will be taught by Sean Mangan, a Professor of Practice at the University of Cincinnati College of Law, where he teaches transactional lawyering skills such as contract drafting, mergers and acquisitions, accounting and finance for lawyers, and client counseling. Sean is also the Director of UC Law’s Entrepreneurship and Community Development Clinic (ECDC), which provides free transactional legal services to small businesses, start-ups, and non-profit organizations within the Southwest Ohio region. Since its inception in 2011, ECDC has provided over $1.5 million in pro bono legal services to over 400 businesses in the Cincinnati entrepreneurial ecosystem. Prior to becoming an attorney, Sean served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps.  

 

Class 2:

 

Financial Basics will be held on Tuesday, June 17 from 6 - 7:30 PM at the Findlay Market Corporate Offices – 19 West Elder, Cincinnati, OH 45202.

 

In this class we will cover:

  • Separating Personal and Business Finances

  • How to Build Business Credit

  • Cash Flow Basics: Understanding cash flow essentials

  • Setting Business Goals

  • Paying Yourself as a Business Owner

  • Financial Tools Overview

 

This class will be taught by Keith Eichelberger, Senior Small Business Consultant at Truist Bank. Keith has been at Truist for 12 years, starting as a teller, then graduating to banker, senior banker, branch manager, and now Senior Small Business Consultant. A guiding light in his work is helping small businesses in the Cincinnati community achieve their financial goals.
