Casters for Prep Tables & Equipment

All of our equipment in the kitchen is on casters to ensure that equipment can be moved and utilized based on the members’ needs. The casters break down over time and often need to be replaced. Casters that are durable and able to hold up to the heavy usage of the kitchen are costly to replace and a key part of operating in the kitchen.

Folding 8 Foot Table

We use our folding 8-foot tables for many things around Findlay Kitchen; they are most commonly used for outdoor mobile events (the launch pad for many of our businesses!). These tables take a beating and usually need replacing every 2-3 years due to wear and tear. These are a vital tool for our members to set up at the Findlay Market Outdoor Market, where they can soft test their business concept in front of the public for the first time.

Storage Cage

All members have an opportunity to store their equipment and products at Findlay Kitchen. We currently can accommodate frozen, cooler and dry storage. Most of the storage in the kitchen is managed using large metal cages with doors and locks. Members can rent storage by the shelf, and as their business needs grow they can add on additional storage as needed. We are currently in need of additional storage shelves to accommodate storage needs.

The current TVs in our Classroom Kitchen are outdated and often do not accept technology without direct USB plug-ins. Having upgraded smart TVs would allow our members and external rentals to utilize the displays to their full potential – casting recipes, logos, videos, and slideshows onto the screens with ease.

Taste of Cincinnati Equipment Rental

Each year, our team coordinates, supports, and works onsite with 20+ of our food business entrepreneurs for Taste of Cincinnati. Businesses range from seasoned Findlay Market merchants to brand new businesses that have never done a large-scale food event before. Due to the large nature of the event, we require a rental from the Cincinnati ToolBank to have on-site supplies for our team and members to have a successful weekend. These items range from folding tables, tent weights, tarps, chairs, extension cords, and more.

Mobile Tent

If a member were to purchase their own mobile equipment, they would easily spend over $1,500 on equipment. For someone just trying out their concept without an established business, this is a high barrier. We have two mobile kits that Findlay Kitchen members can rent out for just $50. Our Findlay Kitchen branded tent costs over $1,000 and is currently in its last year of use.

Robo Coupe

A Robo Coupe is a pricey, small piece of equipment that gets a lot of use around Findlay Kitchen! What is it? A beefed-up commercial-grade food processor that nearly all of our members use in some capacity. Robos are difficult to fix and we only have two left of our original five.

Deep Fryer

We currently have one deep fryer that is unpredictable and inconsistent. These deep fryers are essential for our caterers to produce large quantities of product. Mostly commonly, they are used for falafel, fried chicken, empanadas, etc. An updated fryer would put our members and team at ease, knowing they work consistently.

Floor Cleaning Machine

Our floor machine gets used every. single. day. Our team has fixed, repaired, and operated on our floor machine numerous times, but it is nearing the end of its long life. This equipment is used to clean and scrub floors and is the only way to truly clean the floors in a way that sweeping and mopping cannot accomplish.

Adjustable Height Table

Our Classroom Kitchen has an adjustable height table that is no longer functional, impacting events that require flexibility between sitting and standing. This table is crucial for activities like cooking classes and external dinner rentals. At $3,000 each, replacing it has been difficult, and the broken table limits our ability to generate revenue.

Annual Hood Cleaning

Each year we are required to have our hood ducts cleaned. Typically, in a restaurant, they can be in and out within an hour or two because they only have one hood. Findlay Kitchen has eight hoods scattered throughout the building. This, in conjunction with the fact that we have businesses operating in our building at most times of the day, makes hood cleaning at the Kitchen a challenging, overnight job that comes at a high price.
