Cool Ridge Vineyards Wine Tasting - April 14th at 7:00PM EST
Proprietors, Gerhard and Suzanne Glocker, now share the reality of their dream with you!
From nearly 15,000 vines planted by hand, nurtured by hand and harvested by hand, the winemaker,
Gerhard Glocker, has crafted small lot, high quality wines with the unique flavors of the limestone chalk soil.
Wines are hand-crafted with gentle treatment of the berries. The winemaker works in small lot quantities to assure premium quality with as little intervention as possible. He believes in letting the particular vintage
of each year evolve into a wine that displays the character that
Mother Nature has created in that growing season.
Gruner Veltliner 2019
This Austrian grape shows off lots of fruit aromas and just the right acidity. Bright aroma of citrus zest - a zippy mouthful!
2016 Cool Red
Bordeaux Blend –Cabernet Sauvignon; Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. More Cabernet Sauvignon in this blend to bring out the blackberry, black current, and dark cherry flavors.
Shows complexity with good integration of the four blended grapes... great aromatics!
Cool Ridge Vineyard received a 91 Pt score from James Suckling, renown wine critic! He described their 2015 Cool Red as follows:
"Very nicely assembled blend with a swathe of rich plums, blueberries, cassis and mulberries, framed in attractively spicy oak. 38 per cent Cabernet Sauvignon, 29 per cent Cabernet Franc, 22 per cent Merlot and 11 per cent Petit Verdot. Drink or hold." Won 2017 MD Governors Cup “Best in Show”
Antietam Creek Vineyards Wine Tasting - April 15th at 7:00PM EST
Antietam Creek Vineyards began as an abandoned 55-acre dairy farm adjacent to the Antietam National Battlefield. After buying the land in 2010, the owners Joan Larrea and George Warmenhoven spent months carefully cultivating the land, testing soil microclimates, and building a deer fence to keep curious antlered friends at bay. In 2011, they began planting the first of their 4.5 acres currently under cultivation.
Today, Antietam Creek Vineyards boasts a full estate wine production facility and tasting room — they grow all their own grapes in their on-site vineyard, and produce and bottle all their wines in-house, in their wine cellar beneath the tasting room. They are proud to be a part of the up-and-coming Maryland viticultural region, and to share the fruits of our labors with you.
2017 Chardonnay
Almond, honey, and citrus
Gold Medal, Maryland Governor’s Cup, 2019
Old World in character with aromas of almond, honey, and brioche. The palate reveals a pleasant, mild acidity that frames the aromas and carries it to a long finish. Made in the traditional style with French oak barrels and partial malolactic fermentation. 88% Chardonnay, 12% Pinot Noir
2017 Petit Verdot
Robust yet refined, with notes of blackcurrants
This wine exhibits classic varietal characters of cassis, bramble fruit, and graphite on the nose. Robust palate with refined tannins; remarkably soft due to 20 months age in French oak barrels (29% new). Approachable now, but will continue to age well for years to come. 100% Petit Verdot
