Having overcome a childhood in the foster care system and a period of homelessness, Dane's firsthand experience with adversity has shaped his commitment to expanding resources and addressing homelessness as Mayor of Escondido.

Born and raised in a working-class family in Escondido, and now working as the Information Director and Volunteer Coordinator for the Brother Benno Foundation, Elias has seen firsthand how access to the right resources can uplift entire neighborhoods.
