The Notre Dame Club of Austin is partnering again with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul - Diocesan Council of Austin to serve those in need at their Food Pantry and Thrift Store. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a network of friends, growing in holiness and building a more just world through personal relationships with and service to people in need.
We are offering multiple shifts to allow ND/SMC/Holy Cross volunteers to find the time and activities which may be the best fit for them.
Volunteers* should wear comfortable clothes that are OK to get dirty and ALL must wear sturdy CLOSE-TOED shoes. (*Youth ages 11-17 are welcome to volunteer with a parent or adult guardian.)
The Food Pantry FULL Shift is for those who can work from 7:30AM - 11:30AM
If you like to keep busy and be on the move, consider volunteering to help in the Pantry. Volunteers will help our neighbors fill out assistance paperwork, navigate our client-choice food pantry, fill and/or carry boxes. It may also include stocking and inventory tasks. This is a great, fast paced and hands-on opportunity for those interested in direct client services. In March, the Vincentian Family Center (VFC) Food Pantry set a new record with 1,117 boxes distributed to families. The families served came from as far away as Jarrell and Lockhart!
The Thrift Store PM Shift will work from 1:30PM - 4:00PM.
If you’d like to work as a team with your fellow ND/SMC/Holy Cross volunteers, consider volunteering to help in the Thrift Store. Volunteers may assist with many daily tasks including warehouse sorting, cleaning, organizing, and/or pricing. The Thrift Store provides a variety of affordable items for our neighbors including furniture, clothes, housewares, jewelry, electronics, and more. This is truly charity in action behind the scenes, putting your hearts and hands to work for those in need.
The Food Pantry Early ONLY Shift is for those who can only work from 7:30AM - 9:30AM.
Food pantry volunteers will help our neighbors fill out assistance paperwork, navigate our client-choice food pantry and select items via thrift store vouchers for clothing and household goods. May also include stocking and inventory tasks. Great hands-on opportunity for those interested in direct client services.
The Food Pantry "Late" ONLY Shift is for those who can only work from 9:30AM - 11:30AM.
