As a reminder, the application must be completed in full and all necessary paperwork and information must be submitted with the application and payment.

Mandatory Meetings (must be attended! SAVE THE DATES!)

Pageant Tea: Sunday, July 16, 2023 @ 3:00pm

            -Location: TBD

            -We will be hosting an afternoon tea for our contestants and queens to meet.

- A photographer will be taking pictures for the newspaper and to promote on FB, so please dress appropriately. “Sunday best” recommended.

Full Dress Rehearsal: Wednesday, August 2, 2023 @ 6:00pm; Contestants may start arriving at 5:00pm to get set up and practice on stage. We will meet in auditorium at 5:45pm for a meeting.

Pageant: Saturday, August 5, 2023 @ 3:00pm (NEW TIME) @ Silsbee High School Auditorium

            -Contestants MUST be present by 2:00pm on pageant day or they will be DISQUALIFIED. There will be a quick run through of the Parade of Contestants, and then they can continue getting ready. Contestants MUST be completely dressed and ready by 2:45pm for line up.

 

Basic Rules

All categories will compete in casual wear and formal wear. Formal gowns must be floor length for every category.

Casual Wear: No midriffs, revealing, or low-cut tops. Bottoms must be of appropriate length. Casual wear is a fashionable/stylish outfit that flatters the contestant and represents her personality.

Casual and formal wear outfits will be reviewed by pageant committee for appropriateness at rehearsal. The entire outfit, including accessories and shoes, MUST be worn at rehearsal.

Nothing about your outfit can change after rehearsal unless approved by directors. If it is changed without permission, there will be a significant point deduction.

Miss contestants will compete in onstage interview during formal wear. Questions will be provided early for contestants to prepare.

Photogenic picture is due at Dress Rehearsal on November 9th, 5x7 size ONLY. No additional points will go toward queen totals for photogenic category.

Score sheets will NOT be released, but comment sections completed by judges can be released upon an emailed request, within a week of the pageant.

Each participant must sale $25 worth of raffle tickets, or 10 points will be deducted from their total score.

Contestants will be judged by 3 judges. Their scores will be added together and tallied by other volunteers, which will be presented to the MC for the awards to be announced.

Judging criteria is below:

Casual Wear: OUTFIT OF CHOICE, PERSONALITY/SMILE, MODEL/POISE, OVERALL PRESENTATION

Formal Wear: DRESS, PERSONALITY/SMILE, MODEL/POISE, OVERALL PRESENTATION

*Dress & Outfit of choice includes the overall fit, uniqueness, appropriateness, and how the contestant wears it.

*Miss Contestants only will have an onstage interview that is included in their formal wear score.

 

Need to Know

Raffle ticket sales and photogenic picture are due at Rehearsal upon arrival.

Full Dress Rehearsal: Contestants will walk through each stage of the pageant schedule and will change into their outfit & dress. Their hair and makeup do not have to be fixed like the night of the pageant, but their hair style should represent what will be done on pageant night. For example, all down, all up, or half up and down. All accessories, including jewelry, shoes, etc, must be worn at rehearsal and cannot be changed without permission.

Contestants can begin to arrive @ 12pm day of pageant to get ready but are strongly encouraged to arrive with make-up and hair ready.

Contestants can practice on stage from 12pm until 2pm, first come first serve basis. From 2:00pm to 2:15pm, we will practice the parade of contestants. The stage will be closed after 2:15 for attendees to be seated.

Only 2 people will be allowed with contestant in changing area, women only.

You MUST bring everything you need for pageant night, including table, chairs, power strips, extension cords, blanket/towel, etc.

Teen & Miss only contestants will introduce themselves during Casual wear.

Example: Good evening, my name is Kayla Bishop. I am the daughter of Nathan and Debbie Bishop. I am attending Silsbee High School as a junior. Thank you to my sponsor, _________.

Tickets at the door are $5 per person; age 2 and under are free.

Contestants & Parents are encouraged to follow the Miss Silsbee Scholarship Pageant Facebook page to receive updates.

Miss Congeniality is a new award for each category. Each Contestant will vote for who they believe deserves the award. Votes are due upon arrival the day of the pageant, and they cannot vote for themselves. The contestant deserving of the award is a very friendly person, who is pleasant, agreeable, warm, easy to get along with, and has a great personality.

Contestants and Queens will be able to sale programs ads to raise funds for scholarships and to be promoted in the program. There will be one overall winner for the contestant who raises the most money in program ads.

*There will be a brief meeting with the new queens and parents immediately following the pageant.

 

 

 MISS SILBEE SCHOLARSHIP PAGEANT

Policies & Standard of Conduct 

 

The purpose of the Miss Silsbee Scholarship Pageant is to select female residents within the Silsbee Independent School District to represent the community of Silsbee, Texas and serve as a funding source for our scholarships.  

 

The pageant is an opportunity for young ladies to compete for the titles of Miss Silsbee Royalty and a scholarship for the Miss Silsbee winners. The pageant committee and Board of Directors desire to present a family-friendly event for the community and support the representatives of the pageant as our community ambassadors.

 

It is the decision of the pageant committee and Board of Directors that the following standards will become effective immediately and serve as the policy of conduct for the contestants and for the winner of the Miss Silsbee Scholarship Pageant and her court.

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS are as follows (ALL QUEENS AND CONTESTANTS):

  1. Must live within the Silsbee Independent School District, be currently enrolled in SISD, or be eligible to be enrolled in one of SISD’s campuses.
  2. Must NOT be enrolled in any other school district but may be home-schooled.
  3. Must NOT be or have ever been married.
  4. Must NOT have or be expecting children.

 

STANDARD OF CONDUCT

It is imperative that the winners of the Miss Silsbee Scholarship Pageant follow all the below listed standards. (applicable to ALL of Miss Silsbee royalty)

  1. Can represent the pageant and the community of Silsbee, Texas as the official “Miss Silsbee”.
  2. Endeavor to attend all community functions possible to represent Silsbee.
  3. Recognize that as “Miss Silsbee” your actions reflect upon the community, the pageant committee and the Board of Directors.
  4. Maintain the highest standards of moral conduct.

 

TERMINATION OF TITLE

As a winner, you must agree to the above “Standards of Conduct” and relinquish your title if you fail to meet the above criteria and rules listed below. (applicable to ALL of Miss Silsbee royalty)

  1. DRUG AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE: The Miss Silsbee winner must remain drug and substance abuse free during her reign of honor. She must never be or have been convicted of possession or a user of illegal chemical substances. She should not publicly or socially associate with users or dealers of dangerous illegal drugs.
  2. PREGNANCY: The Miss Silsbee winner during the period of her reign must not become pregnant. Automatic termination of title will be effective in the event she becomes pregnant or goes through the process of abortion.
  3. CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES: In the event Miss Silsbee is arrested and convicted of any criminal activity or mischief, she must immediately relinquish her crown and title.
  4. OTHER VIOLATIONS: Miss Silsbee royalty is a representative of Silsbee and, as such, required to uphold the highest in moral conduct and friendliness. She must NOT become the center of idle gossip or bad report. ALL social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.) posts should only be positive and productive, including NO vulgar language or sexual innuendos.
  5. MARRIAGE: In the event that you as Miss Silsbee become married during your reign, you will be required immediately to relinquish your title and crown.
  6. RESIDENCY AND ENROLLMENT: During her reign, the Miss Silsbee winner must live within the Silsbee Independent School District. She must be enrolled in the SISD or be home schooled. She may not be enrolled in any other school district.

You as Miss Silsbee must hereby agree to uphold this policy of conduct and understand that failure of any of the above standards will subject you to the relinquishment of your title.

The Miss Silsbee Scholarship Pageant Board of Directors has the right to maintain a file and report on your entry, activities, and reports of your reign of honor. It also has the authority to remove you as Miss Silsbee after an investigation and membership decision that you have violated any of the above standards that render you unfit to serve as our representative.

We hope you will understand the reasons for our concern. Miss Silsbee must remain an example of good moral conduct for the community of Silsbee, Texas.

 

CUE CARD

The information must be typed out in 16pt font in a paragraph format and emailed to misssilsbeetxpageant@gmail.com This will be what is read aloud while the contestant is walking on stage during formal wear. This is NOT an exhaustive list of your child’s accomplishments but a snapshot of her life and what she likes. If the Cue Card is too long, then we will exercise the right to edit it. NOTE: No past titles won can be included in the Cue Card, no exceptions.

EXAMPLE

Susie Lou is the 5-year-old daughter of ______________ and the granddaughter of _________. Susie is sponsored by __________. She has 1 brother and 1 sister. Susie attends Silsbee Elementary and is in Kindergarten. She enjoys reading, playing outside, playing baseball, and playing with her friends. Susie would like to wish all the contestants the best of luck!

 

RAFFLE TICKET SALES

All contestants are required to sell $25 worth of tickets or 10 points will be removed from their total score. Each ticket is $5. There will be 1 overall ticket winner awarded to the young lady that sells the highest number of RAFFLE tickets, and a high raffle ticket winner in each category. Raffle tickets can be completed in paper form or online.

Contestants can use paper entry forms that must be filled out and include the money. Contestants must list their category and name on each page to receive credit. There are 10 entries to a page. Contestants will need to make copies of a blank raffle entry form if more are needed.

Here is a QR code for individuals to pay online for a raffle ticket. Please remind the individual to include your name to receive credit for the online raffle entry. Deadline on day of rehearsal.
