At the most fundamental level, Mi Casita's purpose is to provide evidence of concept of what can be possible in the larger education system, which is to engage relationships that center and cultivate the vibrant humanity of our communities. 

But how might we engage this purpose in such a way that allows us to deal with the dilemmas of early childhood education and care in the US? How might we expand our financial capacity to pay our team members sustainable wages, increase accessibility to our school, and still maintain the autonomy that has allowed us to continue implementing practices aligned with our values with our Mi Casita teammates, children, families, and the wider Bed-Stuy and Clinton Hill community?  

While the answer is complex and emerging, one important aspect of energizing our work will be through welcoming financial gifts from the immediate and wider community. Mi Casita's major development aims are to:

• Increase our capacity to provide sustainable salaries for our team mates
• Increase our capacity to subsidize the cost of tuition to increase accessibility to Mi Casita
• Increase our capacity to enrich and deepen our with with our team and wider community by being able to invite speakers, artists, musicians, and other brilliant humans to the space. We are also looking to rent more space to allow for more opportunities to develop as a community and invest in the sustainability of the school.  
• Fill gaps : allow us to pay for maintenance and enhancements to the facility such as sound proofing, fixing the adult bathroom door, pay for a night layer of paint on the walls, etc.
