Hi, I'm Shannon Wells-Guidry! I am proud to be a part of the Sweetheart Court, sponsored by North Oaks Health System. I am raising funds for Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Hammond and appreciate your support. The gal who raises the most money by 8pm on February 11 at the annual Gal's Night Out event, presented by Republic Finance, will be named the 2026 Queen of Hearts.

Why is supporting Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center important to you?

My passion for supporting Mary Bird Perkins runs deep because cancer has touched my family personally. Watching my father and grandmother battle cancer with strenght, resilience, and unwavering faith showed me how critical it is to have access to quality care, support, and hope. Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center doesn't just treat patients - it uplifts families, fuels research, and gives people fighting for their lives a chance to keep going. Being part of that mission allows me to give back in a way that truly matters and helps build a future where more families can celebrate healing together.

Fun facts about you?

I played the saxophone in my high school band, and years later, I decided to take swim lessons with my children. Let's just say it didn't go quite as planned - I nearly took both myself and the instructor under water while my kids watched in total disbelief! Needless to say, we switched instructors the next year because they were so embarrassed. In spite of it all I eventually learned how to swim.
