It's school board election time again! Did you know the last two elections were decided by less than 300 votes? Mailing, texting, or lit dropping 300 additional voters could mean the difference between winning the election and losing the election. There are two contested seats that will be on the ballot on May 2nd. V4P is endorsing two candidates (to be announced). Please help us reach every persuadable voter in LTISD!

The 2024 LTISD School Board election was really a David and Goliath story. Lake Travis Familes PAC and their candidates had enormous financial resources, professional political strategists, and support of local and state politicians. But in the end, David won!  Our community voted for the experienced educators (Lauren White and Dr. Phillip Davis) who were qualified to lead our district through our current environment of defunding public education.

In 2025, Jennifer Fleck (Republican County Party Chair) used a hateful campaign to try to get her LTISD school board candidates elected. But again, with your support, we were able to unite the community and elect two more educators, Jonathan Bove and Kris Woodcock, to the school board!

LTISD has made great strides in 2025 and that's because of the new representation on the school board. The new leaders approved a new qualified superintendent, Dr. Null, who is making significant leadership and communication improvements in the district. But the school board is facing extremely challenging times due to what is happening at the state level. The state is withholding district funding (vouchers will only make it worse), which is forcing all districts to make hard decisions about program cuts. We need a board with members who truly care about public education, the students and teachers to make these tough budget decisions. We don't need a board that will choose the Bluebonnet curriculum, an academically inferior religious-based curriculum, in order to get more funding, for example.

And book bans are not a thing of the past. Rob Aird and Keely Cano, the two school board members, whose seats are up for election this year, have both voted to ban books. In addition, the district currrently has a commmittee (SLAC), which is required by a newly created state law. This committee, which is appointed by the school board, decides which challenged books will go before the school board. The school board is still required then to have a hearing and take a vote to keep or ban the book.

With your support, we are making real progress in LTISD. We need to ensure we keep buildling on that progress. Our district has slipped in academics, transparency, SPED and real leadership in the past years. We need a board who is truly dedicated to public education, not culture wars, to lead our district!

This is truly a grassroots effort, funded by people who have no political ties but just want to support public education in LTISD.  We don't pay fancy political strategists to do the work.  We don't pay people to put up signs and door hangers.  It's all volunteers.  You can learn more about our financials here
