Join us on June 7th at 2 PM for a special screening of The Librarians at Kennett Library!
Experience a one-of-a-kind community experience as we watch the fight for democracy and our First Amendment rights. A timely and thought-provoking documentary directed by Kim A. Snyder, The Librarians follows those who refuse to be silenced by book bannings across the country. From tense school board meetings to legislative battles, librarians emerge as vital protectors of intellectual freedom, confronting censorship, harassment, and even legal threats. Their work reveals a powerful truth: controlling the flow of ideas shapes the future of our communities.
This event is made possible by an anonymous sponsor, and will feature a live appearance by special guest Weston Brown, whose voice and story are essential to the film. Following the 90 minute film will be a discussion, as well as time to mix and mingle in the gallery. Light fare and refreshments will be provided. Come early, stay late, and be part of a meaningful conversation that goes far beyond the screen.
Tickets are $30. All proceeds benefit Kennett Library and support our mission to strengthen our communities, cultivate knowledge, and ignite imagination.
*This screening is part of our broader 250 programming, inviting reflection on civic engagement, access to information, and the enduring importance of free expression.*
Doors will open at 1:30pm
