SOUND CZECH! SERAFIN ENSEMBLE
The vibrant color, folk melodies and dance rhythms, and high-spirited energy of Czech giant, Antonin Dvorak make for an uplifting evening with Serafin Ensemble at Kennett Library on Saturday, April 18th, at 7pm. The one-hour program opens with the delightful first string quartet by Franz Joseph Haydn - considered the father of the string quartet. In the middle, the captivating sounds of Bohuslav Martinu's Three Madrigals for Violin and Viola add a touch of Czech modernism, creating a varied and diverse program. It will be performed by four superb string players drawn from The Serafins' roster of 19 international artists.
Artists: violinists Kate Ransom (who serves as Serafin artistic director and resides in Wilmington) and Eric Pritchard (here from North Carolina where he is first violinist with the internationally renowned Ciompi Quartet. Russian violist, Adelya Shagidullina, will be in town from her current home outside Washington, DC. And Serafin cellist, Jacques-Pierre Malan who hails originally from South Africa, completes the ensemble for this performance.
