Jerry Carpenter, Madison County Parks and Recreation Director, and wife of 37 years, Kathy Carpenter, are both natives of Madison since birth. After they attended Madison County High School together, they had four children who were each involved in the community mainly through sports and 4-H. A main priority and the motivation behind Kathy and Jerry’s choice to join the “Dancing for the Stars” event concerns the livelihood of Madison County’s future—our children. They feel it is necessary to always have a program that balances safety, fun, and education enrichment. To the Carpenters, it’s important to have an establishment like the Boys & Girls Club to assist in helping the kids of Madison to learn and grow. Kathy and Jerry would love your help to win the People’s Choice Award in support of Madison’s Boys & Girls Club. A win like this would mean a lot to them because Madison has been and always will be their home. It’s where their families grew up, where they started their own family on a third-generation dairy farm, and where they’ve met their greatest friends.

Boys & Girls Club of Madison is located adjacent to Waverly Yowell Elementary School in Madison, Virginia. The Club serves over 150 members! With Club attendance at an all-time high, support from our community is paramount. Funds raised through Dancing for the Stars help the Club maintain membership fees of only $50 for the school year and $100 for the summer, so that we can be a safe and reliable resource for young people to learn, grow, and have fun.
