Many Veterans deal with trauma or "soul injury" they incurred as part of their military service. The ultimate goal of our program is to provide each Veteran the opportunity for a more peaceful passing in ways that meet both Hope's high standards at end-of-life care for all hospice patients, and those that are specific to the unique needs of Veterans at end-of-life. This impact extends to helping family of the Veteran as well, by supporting them through the dying process and afterword with grief support.
The impact of the program cannot be overstated, as there is obvious value to both honoring Veterans and for easing a person's end-of-life experience. However, the true impact made with each Veteran we serve on an internal level is difficult to measure or quantify. Tears, smiles, and gratitude are expressed every time one of our community's Veterans are touched in these meaningful ways.
Educating and bringing the community together to honor our Nation and our Veterans through outreach and recognition events also has immeasurable yet critical value.
When these important Veteran and community needs are addressed appropriately, the community is healthier. Grief is made manageable for the family and others left behind. Ultimately, with reduced grief and mental health issues, the need for additional community needs and resources is diminished.
As this program is not funded by the Medicare hospice benefit, your support of this program will allow these Veteran needs to be met, touching the lives of over 200 Veterans and their families annually.
