"Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?'" -MLK
January 19th is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and we honor his legacy through a day of service, working toward a more equitable society.
On Tuesday January 20th, individuals can dedicate time to their community to come out and help give back with a special volunteer day.
This MLK Volunteer Day will be hosted on Tuesday January 20th from 9am-4PM and consist of painting 3 classrooms at the now closed Manor Excel Acadamy for the benefit of the African American Youth Harvest Foundation.
AAYHF's mission is to advocate for, strengthen, and provide culturally competent, family-centered educational, health, human services and economic development opportunities to African Americans and other at-risk youth and families that reside in the Greater Austin area. They seek to improve our community by focusing on supporting and strengthening the family unit and addressing preconceived notions of minority youth.
Their programs promote mental, physical, and social well-being in addition to opportunities for professional development.
The Mayor and City of Manor is donating this building for their purpose of bringing their services to the city where they can fill this gap for the Manor community.
Breakfast and lunch will be served! We can't wait to see you there!
