The Giving Guild is the heartbeat of the Festival Beach Food Forest, sustaining our work in the form of regular monthly donations. In permaculture, we support trees by surrounding them with a guild— a diverse group of plants that benefit the health of the tree and in turn, lead to a healthier food forest ecosystem. When you join the Giving Guild, you become part of a vital community of supporters that nurture the health of the Food Forest. These recurring monthly gifts create a reliable revenue stream that allow us to sustainably cultivate and maintain the Food Forest, which in turn offers its numerous gifts back to the community.
The Giving Guild harnesses the power of the collective. It doesn't take much on an individual level, but the collective impact of each recurring donation made in the Giving Guild strengthens the Food Forest's resilience to the ebb and flow of grant funding and volunteer support.
Giving Guild members can choose a monthly contribution that feels sustainable to their budget. As our way of saying thank you, we offer the gifts listed below. We also organize social gatherings for Giving Guild and Food Forest Core Team members to connect & build community. We can’t wait to meet you!
Sticker packs, t-shirts & zines can be picked up at our First Saturday Plant Walks or Second Saturday workdays. If you live outside of the Austin area, we can arrange to ship these items to you. Annual Feast tickets will be distributed to all current Harvest level sponsors 30 days prior to the Annual Feast date.
For a few dimes to a few dollars per day, you can be an integral part of the Food Forest's support network! Here are just a few examples of what we can purchase monthly at each giving level:
$5/month = just $0.17 per day ~ a small herb plant, a bag of seeds, paint to make a sign, a pair of gloves
$12/month = just $0.33 per day ~ a hand tool, a watering can, a couple of small plants
$25/month = just $0.83 per day ~ seaweed for plant health, guild plants to support trees, soil conditioner
$50/month = just $1.60 per day ~ 20 sweet potato slips, 8 lemon balm plants, 7 calendula plants
$100/month = just $3.33 per day ~ 4 barbados cherry trees, 5 evergreen sumac trees, 8 yaupon holly trees

More about the Festival Beach Food Forest:
An oasis in the heart of Austin, Texas, Festival Beach Food Forest is a fenceless, edible forest garden where visitors can openly forage and enjoy fresh food on the shores of Lady Bird Lake. By working with nature, we work less. In a food forest, humans help set the conditions where they, the plants, and local animals can keep the system thriving over time. Using permaculture design and regenerative practices, our food forest provides food, medicine, shade, education and ecosystem benefits to its neighbors.
Our regular events include weekly and monthly community workdays, monthly educational plant walks, and weekly yoga in the forest.
