Students will explore different traditional Mandarin Folk Dances and the stories that each dance tells. This residency allows the students to further their understanding of the Mandarin culture. Each class uses a prop in the dance: ribbons, fans or umbrellas. Funding for the residency provides a professional dance instructor and replacement props as needed. After 10 rehearsals, the students perform for their families, kindergarten buddies and current third graders.
